During my stay in Stirling, I visited the town's well-known bar and restaurant. To be honest, finding a place in Scotland that serves good food cheaply isn't easy.
Restaurant: Wetherspoon The Crossed Peels
Wetherspoon is a popular British chain of pubs and restaurants, known for its informal atmosphere and wide selection of food and drinks at very affordable prices.
The company was founded in 1979 by Tim Martin and has since secured a firm place on the British dining scene, including in Scotland. Wetherspoon pubs are often housed in historic or unusually converted buildings—former cinemas, banks, or post offices—which gives them a distinctive atmosphere. They offer traditional British dishes, breakfasts, vegetarian and vegan options, and a wide selection of beers, ciders and cocktails. Thanks to the combination of affordability, quality and quick service, they're popular with both locals and tourists.
Bar: Molly Malones
Molly Malones in Stirling is an Irish-style pub. It's located on Maxwell Place and offers traditional Irish dishes such as steak & Guinness pie, fish and chips, or hearty stews, complemented by a wide selection of drinks including Guinness and other popular brands.
The interior is decorated with shamrock motifs and features several screens for watching live sports broadcasts, making it a favorite spot for rugby and football fans.
They regularly host live music nights, quizzes and other activities.
In 2022 the venue was named 'Best Licensed Premises in Scotland' at Scotland's Business Awards, confirming its exceptional quality and popularity.
