Stylish and affordable Hobo hostel in central Madrid with an authentic atmosphere, shared spaces, and a community of travelers. The ideal place for your stay!
When I decided to visit Madrid, I was looking for affordable accommodation right in the heart of the city, ideally close to a metro station so getting around would be convenient.
While browsing listings on Airbnb, I spotted a hostel called 4 Bears Sharehome and immediately knew where I wanted to stay.
I found a lovely, newly renovated place with a friendly atmosphere and spotless common areas that make everyone feel at home. For a reasonable price I got comfortable lodging just a short walk from the center, which made it easy to discover Madrid’s charm on every corner.

Comfortable lounge
When you arrive at the hostel you’re greeted by a spacious entrance hall. Here you’ll find a non-smoking lounge and a fully equipped kitchen—ideal for relaxing or preparing your own meals.
The lounge is styled in a Hobo theme that blends natural materials and comfort. Green furniture, moss accents, soft sofas and cozy floor cushions create an atmosphere that’s both modern and organic. A quirky feature is a special seat up near the ceiling, reached by a small ladder, which adds a playful touch to the space.
The room is equipped with plenty of power outlets for convenient device charging and reliable Wi‑Fi. This makes it a great place not only for relaxing and reading undisturbed, but also for remote work or handling tasks while traveling.
Well-equipped kitchen
The kitchen is perfectly outfitted with everything you might need for a comfortable stay. You’ll find a kettle, dishwasher, fridge, stove and freezer, ensuring complete convenience when cooking and preparing meals. There are also plenty of plates, glasses and other utensils, so you don’t have to worry about a thing.
What if I need to do laundry?
The hostel has a washer-dryer, which is great for longer stays or for travelers who need to freshen up their wardrobe. Even better, you don’t have to pay for laundry detergent, which is often a rare perk.
Since there is only one washer-dryer, I recommend planning your laundry with consideration for other guests so you don’t block access. A little foresight will ensure a smooth laundry experience without any complications.
Smoking area
Right behind the kitchen, living area and laundry you’ll find a smoking area, elegantly separated by a glass wall that ensures both privacy and plenty of natural light. This space is furnished with comfortable sofas and a small table, making it an ideal spot to relax. The interior follows the same style as the non-smoking room, so the pleasant atmosphere continues here, allowing you to unwind without disturbing other guests.
Showers and bathroom like in a luxury hotel
From my experience, hostel showers are often more "functional" than aesthetic, and can feel cheap or worn. At 4 Bears Sharehome, however, the showers pleasantly surprised me—they look like something you’d find in a luxury hotel.
The modern, elegant design and spotlessly clean facilities guarantee comfort. It’s details like this that make you feel like you’re in top‑class accommodation—even in a hostel.
Room types
4 Bears Sharehome offers private rooms and a shared dormitory for around 12 guests.
The shared dorm is located on the ground floor, in a quiet rear part of the hostel, ensuring a peaceful and comfortable stay. Private rooms are on the upper floor, providing more privacy for those who prefer a calmer atmosphere.
Each guest in the shared room has their own lockable locker for safe storage of personal items. You will need to bring your own padlock.
The beds in the shared room are well equipped—each has its own power outlet and USB port so you can comfortably charge your phone, laptop or power bank without leaving your spot. For those who like to work from bed, there’s also plenty of space. Each bed also has its own reading light, and for maximum comfort you can close a curtain around your sleeping area to ensure a bit of privacy.
Transport connections
The hostel is ideally located just a short walk from the entrance to the Plaza de Tirso de Molina metro station. This station offers excellent connections for getting around Madrid, whether you’re heading across the city or need to reach the main train station quickly. Thanks to this convenient location, getting around the city is easy and fast, saving you time and helping you find your way.
Area around the hostel
The hostel is located near Plaza de Tirso de Molina.
Madrid is full of picturesque but narrow streets where petty crime can be more common, especially at night. I recommend avoiding some of the nearby side streets around the hostel, both day and night, to be on the safe side.
For safe and convenient travel around the area, I suggest using the main street Calle de la Espada, which leads directly to the hostel. This route is one of the safest and most comfortable ways to get to and from the hostel.
It’s just a short walk from the hostel to central Madrid and to major sights such as Plaza Mayor, Puerta del Sol, the Palacio Real de Madrid, and Campo del Moro. Shoppers and lovers of great views will certainly appreciate visiting the El Corte Inglés department store at Callao, which offers a stunning vista over the surrounding city.
There are also plenty of restaurants in the area offering great dining options.
The restaurants on the square are known for excellent cuisine and reasonable prices, making them ideal for anyone wanting to taste authentic Spanish dishes. I definitely recommend trying the traditional Spanish soup gazpacho—a refreshing cold dish that’s a favorite in summer among locals and tourists alike.
If you’re traveling to Madrid and looking for affordable accommodation in the city center, I definitely recommend considering this hostel. It’s a great place that offers comfort, excellent facilities and a superb location, making it an ideal base for exploring Madrid.
4 Bears Sharehome is also a fantastic spot to meet young travelers from around the world. I personally met a great group of people here; we explored Madrid in the evenings, visited a few bars and enjoyed the nightlife. If you’re looking for a place to meet fellow adventurers and share experiences, this hostel is an ideal choice.
